Housekeeping/Ads

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I've decided to allow Google AdSense to put ads on my blog. I don't know yet when they will appear or exactly what they will look like, and it might be a little awkward for awhile until I figure out the formatting.

I just want to explain why I am doing this. I'm a student and don't have any source of income right now, so money is tight. I finance most of the purchases that you see on this blog through money I make selling other items on eBay, etc.

I'm committed to never accepting free items from companies for reviews. I don't mean any offense to anyone who does so, but I know that I personally would not be able to write 100% honestly if I felt indebted to a company. I also really value my total independence from any company.

That's why I've chosen to use a fairly random, content-generated ad program (Adsense) instead of arranging for ads from certain companies to appear on my blog. I don't want to give the impression that I am endorsing any certain company over any other company, and I dislike the idea of being specifically sponsored by anyone in particular. So I think random content-generated ads will suit my goals and desires best.

I expect that ads on Bras I Hate & Love will likely be a temporary measure. If I find they really disrupt the appearance of the blog, or that they don't help me financially at all, I'll take them down. I hope readers won't be bothered by them. I figure we see ads on the vast majority of sites anyway, so hopefully you won't find them troublesome. But let me know if you see anything weird or if you think they are significantly lowering the quality of my blog. Thanks for understanding!

  1. Hi :)

I think you should also do this: http://flattr.com

You should get a flatter account so that we could donate to you for writing. You could also have other donating options like a Paypal buttton. That way you'd get some small amounts from your readers which will also help you getting by better :)

I value you over other bra bloggers because of your integrity of not accepting free products, and I'm so relieved you won't change that :)

  2. "I know that I personally would not be able to write 100% honestly if I felt indebted to a company" - well spotted. I think this is so true, and many bloggers don't reflect enough on the effect of accepting free items. In my opinion, ads in the way you described and a flatter account would certainly make a good option.

  3. Put up a paypal button. I get more information from your reviews than any other bra blog I read. It would be money well spent in my opinion.
